Does Viagra Cause Heart Attacks? Is Testosterone Lowered By Marriage?

Whats the latest on whether Viagra causes heart attacks?

At the recent American College of Cardiology meetings, doctors from Italy reported that Viagra may help prevent heart attacks in diabetics. After one week of taking Viagra daily, diabetics had significantly increased blood flow to their hearts and a marked reduction in C-reactive protein, a marker for inflammation, a leading cause of heart attacks. No data show that Viagra causes heart attacks and much data show that Viagra may prevent them.

Serious Heart Attacks

Heart attacks are a very serious heart condition that 'attack' suddenly. They can be characterized by a spectrum of chest pains and discomfort as well as sweating, vomiting and nausia. Sometimes these symptoms can even result in a complete loss of consciousness. Heart attacks occur when the blood supply to a part of the heart is interrupted. This interuption causes both death and scarring of the tissue in the local area of the heart.

Due to the fact that the interuption can vary in size, as can the area that is affected. Large or small, heart attacks are serious and often life-threatening. Deemed as such they are a medical emergency which needs immediate attention from an emergency medical service. Staying on top of heart attack symptoms as well as the combination of complete medical history, blood tests and ECG findings are what make up the diagnosis for heart attacks.

Larry King''s Heart Attack Saved His Life

For ten years, I told Larry King that he was a walking time bomb and should change his lifestyle before it was too late. At that time he was a radio broadcaster who smoked to stay alert while he worked day and night, and of course he ate a tremendous amounts of junk food. His blood pressure was 150/100 and his total cholesterol was 280.

He suffered chest pains that were severe enough to take him to a cardiologist, but since his electrocardiogram was normal, he didnt see any reason to change his ways. When he had his heart attack, I was the first person to see him in the emergency room. Now he eats the way I do, exercises regularly, has normal cholesterol and blood pressure, and never felt better. His heart attack saved his life.

Stress: Cause of Heart Attacks, or "Blame the Victim"?

Many people believe that stress is a leading cause of heart attacks. When your doctor evaluates your risk for a heart attack, he or she can measure your fitness and your nutritional status objectively, and can tell you about hundreds of studies on the effects of diet and exercise that are based on solid science. But stress is subjective, not clearly defined or measurable.

What one person considers stressful may be a motivating source of success to another. A situation that causes you great distress may be just a minor annoyance for someone else, and vice versa. We dont have any reliable way to measure stress and we dont even have a universally accepted definition of what constitutes stress or elimination of stress.
